On Tuesday, 4 April, Exupery International School’s students organised a bilingual poetry reading event. The poems were primarily performed in students’ mother tongues, but two older students acted as emcees and translators, introducing each poem and speaker and generally narrating the event’s activities. Several pamphlets with English poem text were also prepared to guide the audience, regardless of their native language. Students of all ages performed classic poetry with personalised meanings, combining memorised stanzas with heartfelt and unique messages for every performance. From beginning to end, the event was a demonstration of the students’ collaborative abilities, appreciation for art, and passion for the spoken word.
