We are pleased to announce that a very important event took place for all of us on July 2. The Saeima of Latvia has adopted the International Schools Law, which regulates the work of international schools in the Republic of Latvia.
Our school team, alongside colleagues from other international schools and in close cooperation with the Latvian Ministry of Education, has been working on this law for more than 1.5 years.
This law calls for the provision of a school subject centered around Latvia, which will include study of the Latvian language, culture, and traditions, allowing students to organically deepen their involvement in Latvian society. This approach is fully consistent with the concept of the International Baccalaureate, which has formulated many of the programs our school utilizes.
Of special importance to us is the new law's flexibility and freedom in the choice of subjects, exams, allocation of class time, and selection of teachers.
The Ministry Cabinet's rules supplementing the law will be developed before the end of the year, and we will share more detailed information with you as soon as possible.
