ExuperyTalks is back with a talk by Carl Honoré – two time TED-speaker and the author of the tailored TED course “How to slow down”. His books have been translated into 35 languages. Last but not least, he is the founder and the voice of the Slow movement.
Try asking yourself a few simple questions. Are you always rushing, busy, distracted? Are you speed-reading this sentence right now? Are you on your phone, when having breakfast, given that you are having any? Are your rushing through work tasks and household chores, to the point where you sometimes make mistakes and have to do them again? Are you endlessly running through your to-do list in your head to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything? Is there some undercurrent of anxiety? Perhaps stress and worry creep up when you think of everything you have to do.

In his talk – humble and self-deprecating – Carl will address these issues and try to prove that putting on the brakes is the powerful, counterintuitive secret to thriving in a fast world. He has earned this expertise the hard way: imagine getting a speeding ticket, while researching for the book “In praise of Slow”, being enroute to a dinner held by Slow Food? So he – a Londoner, once a speedy journalist, a father of two – knows what it means to be in a rush. Unlike many, though, he had the courage to slow himself down, reflect on the journey, learn from it and turn its lessons into a movement – Slow Movement.

At ExuperyTalks he will put the audience on a quest of finding their inner tortoise and prove that slowing down can boost health and bring more depth, pleasure and meaning to life. It can also enhance creativity and productivity at work or in learning. Let us all live our lives, as opposed to rushing through.

The language of the event is English.
