EIS "HeadsUp!"

Dear EIS Community,

Welcome to our first HeadsUp! of the year. Hard to believe how much has already unfolded — from opening breakfasts, new faces, and classroom collaborations to safety checks, workshops, Family Day gatherings, football victories, DELF achievements, and Spirit Week. So, the tone is set, the school is buzzing with energy, and so much more awaits us!

Until then, here’s a glimpse of August and September’s brightest moments. Enjoy the video.

Teacher Training

For many, the last days of summer can feel bittersweet — but at EIS, they’re all about gearing up for a brand-new school year. To recharge and reconnect with colleagues who, truth be told, have long since become close friends, we set off on a boat trip. From there, it was straight into collaborations, planning sessions, fresh timetables, and making sure every classroom was ready to welcome our students.

We also hosted orientation events across all divisions — a wonderful chance to greet new families, help parents get to know the school, and for us to get to know them a little better.

Family Day Festival

What makes the EIS community truly special? Without a doubt, it’s the people — and on August 29th, our Family Day Festival was the perfect reminder.

The school band, funnily named The Salad for uniting every part of our community — from students to the Head of School — set the tone for a day of music, games, sports, art, and live performances. Add to that stilt walkers, a clown, a magician, Zumba, and plenty of treats — from fresh pizza and coffee to fruit, cocktails, and free ice cream.

But the real highlight? Smiles everywhere — students, parents, teachers, and friends sharing the day together. At EIS, joy is something we create side by side. Cheers!

Father's Day in Riga

Father Day image
September was full of learning — but also brought one more special celebration. For the first time, EIS joined Riga’s Father’s Day festivities by hosting a cozy Arts and Crafts Station for young visitors at Vērmanes Garden, right in the heart of the Latvian capital. Children had the chance to create thoughtful DIY gifts for their fathers on the spot, turning art into a heartfelt way to say I love you.
We’re grateful to Latvijas vecāku organizācija Mammam un Tētiem for inviting us, to everyone who stopped by, and of course to our wonderful Arts Teacher, Linda Kande, and Primary School Teaching Assistant, Sanija Mihailova, whose creativity and care made it all possible.
It was moving to see so many proud dads with their families, celebrating love and unity. Our station was buzzing all day long — children and parents cutting, gluing, painting, and creating together. Simple activities yet filled with meaning.

Science Fair

On Saturday, March 22, our students delivered an outstanding performance at the DISR Indoor Football Match Day, facing strong competition from Deutsche Internationale Schule Riga (DISR), the International School of Riga (ISR), and Jura Docenko Futbola Skola “Alberts”. We competed in the U9 and U13 categories.

Our U9 team made a fantastic debut, winning four out of six games, while our older players demonstrated sharp strategy, excellent teamwork, and some spectacular goals!

Sports Day in Primary

Think bounce castles, sprint races, and balancing through the “Mine Field.” Picture determined faces at the Monkey Bars, skipping ropes cutting through the air, and the challenge of carrying water in a team relay.

Students joined forces to build towers using just paper cups, elastic bands, and a lot of communication — proving that teamwork really makes the dream work! From football and floorball to “Aqueduct” and some fantastic gymnastics performances, the day was packed with action, laughter, and learning.

A huge thank you to our incredible students and dedicated teachers who brought this event to life! A special shoutout goes to Ginta Strode, our PE Teacher and Sport Program Coordinator, for organizing it all. It was a joyful celebration of movement, teamwork, and school spirit!

International Day

Around the World, Right Here on Campus — That’s How We Did International Day at EIS!

From Chinese lantern-making to Brazilian rhythms and Jamaican dreadlocks and Indian dances — this year’s International Day was a true celebration of global diversity at Exupery International School.

Eager to explore and collect stamps, our students set off on a whirlwind journey across continents — all within the walls of EIS. Each guest received a “passport” to mark their visits as they moved from country to country, sampling traditional foods, learning cultural dances, and discovering fascinating facts about different parts of the world.

This vibrant event brought together our entire community — from Nursery to High School — with students, teachers, and parents all taking part. The day was filled with color, creativity, and connection, reminding us of the beauty of an open mind and a curious spirit.

Special thanks go to our incredible teachers for making it all possible — your dedication, inventiveness, and energy transformed classrooms into countries and lessons into memories. And thank you to all the families who joined the journey!
Theatre
This season, EIS students brought two thought-provoking plays to life.

Our G8–12 performers staged Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw — a sharp, witty tale about how language can shape identity and open new doors.

Meanwhile, G6–8 students presented The Blue Bird by Maurice Maeterlinck — a poetic journey in search of happiness, reminding us that joy is often found close to home.

Both productions were beautifully directed by our Russian Language Teacher, Helēna Afanasjeva. Congratulations to all the young actors and crew for their talent, dedication, and heart!

TOK Exhibition - What Shapes the Way We Understand the World?

TOK Exhibition at Exupery International School
Our G11 students recently transformed the EIS foyer into a stage for inquiry at the Theory of Knowledge Exhibition, examining how we come to know—and doubt—what surrounds us. Guided by TOK’s core prompts, they questioned the role of imagination in producing knowledge about the world, probed the relationship between culture and what we accept as truth, and even wondered whether some things remain genuinely unknowable. They reflected on whether certain forms of knowledge belong only to particular communities of knowers and considered which disciplines admit the least room for interpretation.
Each learner then selected an object—from everyday artifacts to cutting-edge images—to bring their personal inquiry into the physical realm, inviting visitors to engage directly with the ideas at hand.

A heartfelt thanks to Fleur Serrière—DP Coordinator, Head of Languages, TOK and French Teacher—for guiding this journey, and to everyone who came to celebrate our students’ curiosity and creativity.
