EIS "HeadsUp!"

June Edition 2026
Dear EIS Community,

The final issue of this academic year is here — and what a busy two months it has been!

From exams and exhibitions to the Science Fair, International Day, Sports Day, and, of course, a season of graduations, the end of the year was filled with learning, celebrations, achievements, and some very important milestones.

Now, let’s look back at some of the highlights that made this final stretch of the school year so memorable.

The First EIS CAS Fair

If you’re not familiar with Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS), it is one of the core elements of the IB Diploma Programme. We could describe it as a journey that encourages students to step beyond the classroom, connect with communities, develop new skills, and turn ideas into action

In May, EIS hosted its first CAS Fair, giving G11 students an opportunity to showcase their Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) experiences while helping G10 learners explore what awaits them next year.

Students also met representatives from organizations including Tilts, Ulubele, Rozā Vilciens, Tavi Draugi, Klubs Māja, and Lighthouse, learning more about community involvement and future collaboration opportunities.
EIS Ran the Riga Marathon
Also in May, we took part in the Rimi Riga Marathon — a tradition that has already become a regular part of the EIS calendar. This year was particularly special, as not only teachers and families but also our students joined the event, representing EIS across distances ranging from 6 to 42 km.

Together, they demonstrated determination, sportsmanship, and team spirit at an event that brought together a record-breaking 46,000+ participants from 116 countries.

We’re incredibly proud of our sports team. Congratulations!

Outstanding UKMT Results

Our G6 and G7 students achieved excellent results in the prestigious UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge 2026, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and mathematical thinking alongside participants from around the world.

Among many impressive achievements, a special congratulations goes to G7 student Patriks, who earned a Gold Award with a perfect score of 100 points. Gold certificates are awarded to only approximately the top 8–9% of participants, making this an exceptional accomplishment. Even more impressively, Patriks achieved this result in a challenge designed for both Years 7 and 8.
Award recipients:

G7: Patriks – Gold; Marija, Mikhail K., Maksims, Mykhailo, and Mikhail T. – Silver; Alesia and Alina – Bronze.
G6: Petr, Iļja, and Mikhail – Bronze.
We congratulate our UKMT participants and their families on these outstanding results and extend our sincere thanks to EIS Mathematics Teacher Mr. Pedro Santana for his fantastic work and dedication.
The Cutest Events of the Year — Preschool Family Days
Our traditional annual Family Days always hold a special place in the EIS calendar — and this year was no exception. Year after year, these celebrations bring together children, parents, and teachers for moments that remind us how important it is to simply slow down and enjoy quality time together.

There is a saying: “The best gift we can give our children is our time.” Family Days feel like a wonderful reminder of that.

Primary Years Programme Exhibition

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition is a milestone event where G5 students bring together everything they have been developing throughout five years of learning.

In the PYP, learners explore topics connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This year, students created their own central ideas and investigated them through interviews, surveys, statistics, and research, making the Exhibition one of their first large-scale independent inquiry projects.

More than a showcase of knowledge, this Exhibition reflected who our students have become. They demonstrated the qualities of inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and balanced learners as they explored real-world issues and shared their findings.

Congratulations to our G5 students, and a big thank you to the whole Primary School team for their guidance and support throughout the journey.
Looking Beyond the Postcard: International Day at EIS
This year’s International Day gave Middle and High School students an opportunity to explore the countries they were presenting from a variety of perspectives.

Working in teams, learners researched topics ranging from history, geography, and traditions to economic development, political systems, social issues, and current events. Through collaboration, research, and critical thinking, they developed a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences and factors that shape societies around the world today.

Thank you to our students for their hard work, to the teachers who supported them throughout the process, and to everyone who came to listen, learn, and take part in the event.

Exupery International School Became an Official SAT Test Center in Latvia

This year, Exupery International School officially became an SAT test center, making it possible for students to take the examination right here on our campus.

The SAT is open to all registered candidates, and students do not need to attend EIS to sit the test at our school.

We are proud to offer this opportunity to students in Latvia and beyond, helping make internationally recognized university admissions testing more accessible.

More information about test dates and registration is available here.

The Fox Den Project – Final Results
Inspired by the award-winning U.S. TV show Shark Tank, our second Fox Den challenged Grade 11 IB Business Management students to develop, pitch, and sell their own school merchandise ideas.

Working in teams, learners presented their concepts to a panel of EIS parent judges — the "Foxes" — who also served as mentors throughout the project. Each team was matched with an investor based on their expertise and experience.

After launching their products through the EmpowerEd Foundation website and in-school sales days, students successfully turned their ideas into reality. We're proud to share that every team ended the project in profit, with a combined total of €1,537.29 raised across all groups.
True to the spirit of the IB DP Business Management course, the project placed corporate social responsibility at its core — and in that spirit, all proceeds will be donated to a range of charitable organizations.

A huge thank you to our students, Ms. Līga Piļkēviča, and our "Foxes" for making this experience possible. Let's make business work!
From Solar Power to Candy Tests: The EIS Science Fair
How does solar power transmission work? Can the color of food change the way it tastes? How many choices are too many?

These were just some of the questions explored at this year’s EIS Science Fair, where students from G8–G10 presented their research projects and invited visitors to engage with science through experiments, demonstrations, and interactive activities.

From microorganisms in water and the future of energy to gaming habits, caffeine and reaction time, aerodynamics, and even blindfolded candy-tasting experiments, the fair showcased the curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking of our young scientists.

We thank our young researchers for sharing their discoveries. A special shout-out goes to our Science teachers for nurturing the curiosity and inquiry that define EIS.
TOK Exhibition: Learning to Question What We Know
This question lies at the heart of the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course in the IB Diploma Programme, and last week our G11 students explored it through their annual TOK Exhibition.

Through their work, students engaged with questions about truth, perspective, evidence, culture, and interpretation, examining not only what we know, but also how we come to know it.

The exhibition also gave our G10 students a valuable glimpse into the IB Diploma Programme. By exploring the displays and speaking with the exhibitors, they had an opportunity to see the kind of inquiry and critical thinking that awaits them in the years ahead.

Congratulations to our G11 learners for their thoughtful work and intellectual curiosity. A heartfelt thank you to Fleur Serrière, DP & TOK Coordinator, and to our teachers for guiding and supporting students throughout this journey.
Sports Day at EIS
A little wind was no match for our Primary students’ enthusiasm as they headed outdoors for this year’s Sports Day.

From relays and sprints to sack races and tug-of-war, students embraced every challenge with energy, teamwork, and plenty of encouragement for one another along the way.

The highlight of the day was the grand finale: a dodgeball match featuring students, parents, and teachers. Competitive? Definitely. Fun? Without a doubt.

A big thank you to all students, parents, teachers, and staff who helped make this day so amazing!
To Our Graduates
These two months are truly a special time at EIS as we mark important milestones across the school. From our youngest learners in K3 taking their first step toward Primary School, to G5 students preparing for Middle School, G9 learners completing an important stage of their academic journey, and our G12 graduates ready to begin exciting new chapters around the world, each achievement is a moment worth celebrating.

Four ceremonies celebrated growth, achievement, perseverance, and all the moments that shaped our students along the way. While every graduate’s path is unique, they all leave this stage with new knowledge, lasting memories, and experiences that will stay with them for years to come.

Congratulations to our graduates and their families on these special milestones. We are proud of everything you have accomplished and look forward to seeing where your journeys take you next!
Looking Ahead
Every school year ends in much the same way: classrooms grow quieter, calendars suddenly become emptier, and before long, everyone is heading off in different directions for the summer.

The months ahead will bring new places to discover, books to finally open, conversations that linger, and experiences that cannot be planned in advance. Some of the most valuable learning happens outside the classroom, carried by curiosity, adventure, and the simple willingness to try something new.

Wherever this summer takes you, we hope it is filled with moments worth remembering.

Thank you for being part of another remarkable year at EIS. We look forward to seeing you all again at the end of August as we begin a new academic year together.

Until then, have a wonderful summer!
