EIS Primary school is a place where children can enjoy their childhood through play-based learning activities as well as engage in high-quality curriculum. Inquiry and concept based approaches allow our students to achieve high results and enjoy the teaching and learning process. EIS students grow in this internationally-minded environment, knowing they are valued.

  • Nurture motivation
We support children's natural curiosity, which lies at the heart of their ability to learn. Our teachers know how to engage the child, always finding ways to praise and help them overcome challenges.
  • Teach children how to learn
Striving for knowledge is the basis for learning how to learn. At Exupery International School, we do not provide predefined answers but rather help students learn to think independently and apply knowledge.
  • Learning by doing
We pay a lot of attention to developing 21st-century skills: our students work in teams, take part in performances, learn public speaking, develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, enhance their interaction and communication skills, apply creative approaches, use time management skills, and much more.

Primary School Curriculum

(Grades 1-5)
Our Primary School curriculum combines two internationally respected programmes — the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Cambridge Primary Curriculum. Together, they create a dynamic learning environment where curiosity, understanding, and real-world connections are at the heart of every lesson. English is the language of instruction.
The IB Primary Years Programme offers a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach that makes learning engaging, meaningful, and relevant for children. Students not only gain essential knowledge and skills, but also develop conceptual understanding, positive attitudes, and a strong sense of responsibility for their learning and actions.

At the core of the PYP are six transdisciplinary themes explored across all subject areas. These themes encourage deep inquiry, critical thinking, and reflection. Through units of inquiry, students investigate local, national, and global topics, always connecting their learning back to themselves and their own experiences.

Our PYP programme is designed as a developmental journey, guiding students through learning that grows naturally from real-life questions and discoveries.
IB Primary Years Programme
Transdisciplinary themes
The IB PYP is designed for students aged 3 to 12. Subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, Art, IT, Languages, and Social Studies are meaningfully integrated within the programme, allowing children to see connections between disciplines rather than viewing them in isolation. This approach creates an authentic and engaging learning experience that supports students from a wide range of backgrounds.
The programme inspires curiosity and encourages children to explore the world with confidence and independence. Students investigate big ideas and essential questions such as:
Who we are
Where we are in place and time
How we express ourselves
How the world works
How we organise ourselves
Sharing the planet
The PYP Exhibition
The culminating experience of the Primary Years Programme is the PYP Exhibition. During this extended inquiry project, students explore real-world issues, conduct research, and present their findings and proposed actions to the school community. It is a meaningful celebration of their learning journey and a confident step toward the next stage of their education.
Latvian Studies
As part of our commitment to our host country and in line with national requirements, all EIS students learn about the Latvian language and culture through a dedicated subject called Latvian Studies. Developed in accordance with state guidelines, the course introduces students to Latvia’s language, history, geography, and cultural heritage.

For more information about the PYP program, please visit the official IB website. The full Program of Inquiry can be found here, and the curriculum guides for core subjects are available here.

Accreditations

Exupery International School is a fully authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school, currently offering the Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) for preschool and primary students as well as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) in high school. The school is also an accredited member of the International Baccalaureate (IB) World School community.
  • Learning in PYP
Our goal in the PYP is to nurture happy, engaged learners in every aspect of school life - from academics, arts and sports to social and after-school activities. Our inquiry-based learning environment helps students make meaningful connections between their existing knowledge and new learning, deepening their understanding of how the world works.
  • Mother Tongue Support
In our Primary School, we place special importance on nurturing each child’s mother tongue. Strong literacy skills in a child’s first language provide a solid foundation for learning additional languages and for overall intellectual growth.

Twice a week, students immerse themselves in their native language and literature. They learn to read thoughtfully, write confidently, and reflect on texts — gradually discovering the richness and beauty of their own language.
  • After-school activities
In the afternoons, our students can choose from over 50 activities designed to match a wide variety of interests, including chess, a professional theatre studio, a movie club, a French video club, music, arts and crafts studios, ceramics, a drone school, a podcast studio, ballet, mathematical art, sports, culinary workshops, and much more.
  • Creative Environment
We create a creative atmosphere where children feel free to express their ideas, think beyond the ordinary, and grow in confidence as they bring their imagination to life. In such an environment, students learn more quickly and effectively, inspired to explore, create, and discover.
  • Digital learning
Access to technology enables our students to be self-directed and responsible learners. Technology is carefully incorporated into our curriculum to deepen students’ understanding of subjects and foster excitement as they create and problem-solve.
  • Individual Approach to Learning
In primary school, a personalized approach plays a key role in helping each child discover and develop their strengths. We take time to understand every student — their personality, interests, and what inspires them — and build relationships based on trust between students, teachers, and parents. This supportive atmosphere helps children grow, feel confident, and enjoy learning.
  • Sports and Daily Outdoor Activity
At Exupery School, movement is not just something that happens in PE lessons — it’s a natural part of everyday life. We want our students to grow up strong, active, and confident, so we place great importance on physical literacy and the development of fundamental movement skills that build balance, coordination, and agility.
  • Our campus offers everything children need to stay active: a spacious indoor gym as well as welcoming outdoor sports areas. Each morning begins with a cheerful warm-up, and throughout the day students enjoy active games outside in the fresh air. We also regularly hold sports celebrations — joyful events filled with team spirit, excitement, and pride in every small achievement.
  • Healthy and Safe Environment
We do everything we can to make sure children feel comfortable and safe at school — and that parents feel reassured. Our campus is located on a secure, monitored site, and students are supported by both a school nurse and a dedicated wellbeing team.

We also place great importance on healthy nutrition. All meals are freshly prepared on site by the kitchen team from the local restaurant 36.Line, using locally sourced ingredients and tailored to each child’s individual dietary needs.
