International Baccalaureate®

What is IB?

The International Baccalaureate Organisation (known as the IB) is a comprehensive international educational system offering four high-quality, challenging programmes, with an overall objective of creating a better, more peaceful world, as well as preparing students for compassionate and knowledgeable contributions to a global society.

The four IB programmes are:

  • Primary Years Programme – PYP
  • Middle Years Programme – MYP
  • Diploma Programme – DP
  • Career Related Programme – CP

IB mission statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquisitive, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
The International Baccalaureate works with schools, governments and international organisations to develop challenging programmes of international education and comprehensive assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners that understand the values of diversity and tolerance.

Exupery International School Mission Statement

The EIS welcomes students from all around the world with an opportunity to receive a competitive international education.

We nurture and develop young people with an emphasis on knowledge, curiosity, critical thinking, international awareness and compassion, preparing them to assume responsibility for the future of the globe and to contribute to its peace and prosperity.

We provide challenging, holistic education based on enthusiastic interest for lifelong learning and a profound sense of respect for cultural diversity.

Our targets and expectations

Exupéry International School shares the IB philosophy and pursues the goal of becoming an IB school. The first programme for which we will obtain an authorisation is PYP. We expect to become an authorised PYP school in 2019.

MYP and DP programmes are also scheduled to be implemented in due course.

At the moment we aim to find a balance between IB principles and the National Curriculum. The educational programme gives us an opportunity to teach most subjects in English and implement the principles of bilingual education, allowing the students to acquire Latvian, Russian and French in a natural environment.

Our values and attitudes

In accordance with the IB Learner Profile Attributes, Exupéry International School motivates, encourages and educates students to be:

  • resilient
  • humane
  • creative
  • independent

and to become:

  • knowledgeable leaders
  • caring team players
  • compassionate volunteers
