In this issue of our newsletter, we invite you to experience EIS through the eyes of a Preschooler, support an incredible charity project by our Grade 5 students, find out how to manage stress in your life, and, as always, celebrate another EIS win at a national Olympiad. We hope you enjoy reading our newsletter, and wish you a fantastic week and a happy Easter Break!
As the re-enrollment process has started for our current families, the school needs to hear about your plans for next year in order to form future groups/classes and begin the preparation process. We look forward to welcoming all of our current families next academic year, and we really need confirmation of whether you will be staying with us to be able to plan our staffing and budget.
Please also let us know if you plan to leave Exupery, as such confirmation is equally important for our planning purposes! Thank you!
To secure your place next year, please send signed re-enrollmentpaperwork to admissions@exupery.lv by the end of March. Early bird payment discount for families of EIS students who choose to make 100% Tuition fee payment for the 2023/24 Academic Year before April 30, 2023.
2nd Place at the National Olympiad
I have a feeling that the Academic Olympiads will become a whole separate regular chapter of the newsletter.
This time we congratulate Kristina, a Grade 9 student who recently competed in the National French Olympiad and has taken the 2nd place! This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the student and her French teachers and all the educators who have supported Kristina throughout her journey.
As we continue to follow the "Inside International School", the most recent addition is so cute that it not only made my day, but my week! Please take 1 minute of your time to watch one of our most serious students, a Preschooler from the K2 group
Parent Teacher Conferences
We would like to thank all the families who made it to the Parent Student Teacher conferences. We strongly believe that it takes a village to raise a child. These three-way conferences provide a great opportunity for parents to see all of the amazing learning that our students experience under the thoughtful guidance of our teachers.
Healthy Lunches Challenge in the Primary School
Our Primary School students have already participated in the Healthy Lunches challenge for two weeks. It was interesting to see how the children's eating habits change and how they relate to global issues.
After week 1, students started to ask questions about food waste and came up with solutions that can be implemented. We are excited to see the outcomes of the initiative and all the great learning that has happened during this time.
Grade 6-7 Field Trip to Estonia
On March 13 and 14, our Grade 6 and 7 students went on an exciting field trip to our neighboring Estonia, where they visited the Estonian Maritime Museum and the "Proto" invention factory in Tallinn and had a chance to stay overnight in the town of Parnu on the way there. This trip provided our middle schoolers with new insights and a valuable time spent together outside the school walls!
Erasmus Project and a Trip to Austria
EIS is taking part in the ERASMUS environmental project "Time to Act - Together!", which focuses on action and teamwork. To kick things off, we hosted the Head of School, Susanne Krämer-Alge and the teacher Laurin Brandt from our partner school in Austria, Schule Für Globales Lernen - Mittelschule Oberland. Now our students are visiting them and meeting their students in person. It's a valuable exchange experience abroad that allows them to collaborate even more closely. After the intensive workshops and meetings, we will also host students from Austria so that we can continue to explore new ways to combat climate change and bring our communities closer together. We look forward to welcoming them back with their students to EIS!
IB PYP Exhibition
Grade 5 is actively preparing actively for the IB PYP Exhibition. We have so many fascinating projects: Reduce the use of plastic, saving animals, designing vegan-friendly options for meals, raising money for charity. You can support one of the projects already now. One of the groups has created a website to sell models they have made with a 3D printer to raise money that will then go to the charity SELF (https://www.self.org/). You are welcome to support the project and place an order on their website https://teamtech4.weeblysite.com. Delivery is available in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
"Food for thought"
On March 23, we held our third session of the EduChat series. It was my turn to contribute to the series. We talked about stress, its various types, the mechanism behind it, and of course some research-based strategies to manage it in the midst of our busy lives. I would like to thank everyone who came and share the workshop presentation here that will hopefully help you manage stress in your lives!
